On 18th July the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum – Kirker’s favourite museum in Lisbon – reopened after an 18-month renovation, also marking the Foundation’s 70th anniversary. The collection comprises around six thousand works acquired by Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian, the Armenian industrialist and art collector, which he bequeathed to Portugal after his death. Collected over 50 years, with artefacts spanning from Ancient Egypt to the 20th century, it is now considered one of the most important private collections in the world.
