Under the direction of Franz Welser-Most, the Zurich Opera is now universally recognised as one of the world’s most important houses. Its added charm is that, despite its importance in the opera world, it is small and intimate. Many of the top artists sing roles that they might not attempt elsewhere and this makes for exciting programming each season.
Highlights for 2024 / 2025 at The Zurich Opera includes: ’Der Fliegende Holländer’ by Wagner (21 November – 10 December), ‘Un ballo in Maschera; by Verdi (8 December – 19 January), ‘Le nozze di Figaro’ by Mozart (15 December – 2 January), ‘Madama Butterfly’ by Puccini (22 December – 4 January), ‘Roméo et Juliette’ by Gounod (31 December – 26 January), ‘Fidelio’ by Beethoven (21 January – 15 February), ‘Manon Lescaut’ by Puccini (9 February – 22 March), ‘Agrippina’ by Händel (2 – 30 March), ’Lohengrin’ by Wagner (13 April – 4 May), ‘Die tote Stadt’ by Korngold (21 April – 1 June), ‘Rigoletto’ by Verdi (26 April – 15 May), ‘Don Pasquale’ by Donizetti (18 May – 3 June), ‘Salome’ by Strauss (29 May – 15 June), ‘Les Contes d’Hoffmann’ by Offenbach (28 June – 12 July), ‘L'Orfeo’ by Monteverdi (29 June – 11 July).
