This contemporary, newly opened hotel sits in 12 acres of natural parkland with direct access to a gently sloping sandy beach. A holiday camp in the 1960s, it has been transformed by owner Federico Ficcanteri into an elegant and relaxed, eco-friendly resort with a large heated swimming pool, a tennis court and 112 comfortable, spacious bedrooms set in five separate buildings dotted amongst the umbrella pines. The resort never feels crowded and is ideal for families, couples and solo travellers looking for relaxation either on the beach, where complimentary sun loungers are available, or in one of the many shady spots in the gardens. In the main restaurant ‘Dimora’ and the gastronomic ‘Eate’, chef Sebastian Minnai offers a refined take on regional dishes using local produce. This is a great base to explore from - Pisa, Lucca, Florence and Siena can easily be reached by train from nearby Follonica. The fortified hill towns of Massa Marittima, Grosseto and Castiglione Della Pescaia are all close by, as are a number of Etruscan archaeological sites. Hotel open 17 April – 11 October.
