Privately-owned and run, this is a very personal ‘boutique’ style property, built in the 19th century and located a few steps from the water’s edge, about two miles along the main road from the centre of town (a free minibus operates during the daytime).
The Villa Aminta is impeccably furnished in classical style, with a beautiful salon which leads to the gastronomic restaurant, ‘Le Isole’, which has a superb view of the surrounding mountains and the lake. There is a second restaurant ‘I Mori’ for more intimate dining. You will also find a private tennis court, an outdoor summer swimming pool (although lake swimming is possible) and sun terraces.
The 68 bedrooms are decorated with great taste; many have wonderful views of Lake Maggiore and of the islands. Prices include dinner each evening at ‘Le Isole’. Hotel open 22 March - 2 November.
