Kirker Holidays

This unique hotel on wheels is the perfect way to discover Andalucia through carefully-planned excursions and tours, without having to pack your bags and move between hotels. The journey runs between Malaga and Seville (and vice versa), for six nights in total, and you can choose to travel in either direction, with perhaps a night in a Kirker hotel before and after the journey.

Lounge

There are just 32 air-conditioned cabins, therefore a maximum of 60 guests onboard – so space and personal service from the excellent onboard team is assured. The wood-panelled cabins are decorated in a classic style, comfortable and spacious. Furthermore, there is a generous amount of public space on the train, including four historic carriages, which date from the 1920s and 30s. Two serve as bar and lounge cars and two are restaurant cars where lunch and dinner are served – all meals served with drinks are included in the price and menus are designed to reflect local specialities. There is also entertainment onboard most nights, in the form of local musicians or flamenco dancers.

Suite cabin

With regards to the accommodation on board, I recommend the deluxe suite (20 in total), as spacious as many hotel rooms. The double bed is 1.5 x 2 metres – and becomes a sofa during the day. The bathroom includes a small rain shower and is relatively spacious and all cabins have a safe and minibar and a certain amount of storage space. There are no twin options in this category, so for two beds you will need to choose the Grand Class room (12 in total), which is more compact and the bathroom with shower is more simple but functional (and smaller in size than the suite) – but again everything has been thought of, from hairdryer to safe. In these cabins the two armchairs become single beds at night, in an L shape style.

Plaza de Espana

During the days, a comprehensive excursion programme is included, with guests divided into small groups for tours of key sights such as the Alhambra Palace & Generalife Gardens in Granada, or the Mezquita mosque-cathedral in Cordoba. Tours are given in English, with other languages available, and the local guides are of a very high standard.

This makes an excellent holiday to celebrate a special occasion. Glide through the towns and villages of the region in elegance, while enjoying a high degree of comfort onboard accompanied by delicious cuisine and wines – a style of travel perfectly suited to the discerning traveller.
