This week, we had the pleasure of hosting our annual spring lecture at the Royal Geographical Society in aid of the Venice of Peril Fund. Guests enjoyed a prosecco reception before a fascinating lecture by travel writer Sara Wheeler, author of the newly-released biography 'Jan Morris: A Life', which has garnered critical acclaim. Jan Morris’s Venice topped bestseller lists around the world in 1960, becoming one of the best-loved accounts of the city. Wheeler's talk shone a new light on Morris' relationship to this beloved city, her career as a travel writer as well as the nuances of her personal identity.
