Madrid, Spain
Kirker Holidays
Sorolla Museum, Madrid
Until 14 April

The final event as part of the commemoration of the centenary of the death of Joaquín Sorolla (1863-1923), the Valencian “master of light”, this exhibition at the painter’s former home in Madrid has been extended into the spring.

The artist’s motivation for all his travels lay in painting in the open air or “au plein air”, and this exhibition is inspired by his journeys with his brushes to a total of fifty-four Spanish towns and seventeen foreign cities, including two tours of the United States. The exhibition is divided into five sections: Sorolla, Open Air Painter; Mediterranean, an open-air study; The challenge of the Bay of Biscay; Natural landscape/Monumental landscape and The Garden, Interior Landscape.
