A settlement at the current site of the city of Strasbourg has existed since the Bronze age due to its excellent geographical position at the crossroads of waterways and overland routes. It is now home to the European Parliament and the European Court of Human Rights. Today, Strasbourg has never been so accessible; with Eurostar's new high speed line you can be in Paris in little over two hours and a short transfer connects you to your TGV train to the heart of Alsace in two hours and 20 minutes.

The Contades is housed in a 19th century five-storey manor house with pretty
dormer windows and splendid wood panelling. Located approximately ten
