An independent republic in the 13th and 14th centuries, Siena is a mediaeval oasis steeped in history, art, mystery and tradition and is our favourite town in Tuscany. It is situated on the ridge of three hills in the heart of the high Tuscan plateau, 40 miles south of Florence and is encircled by huge ramparts. The competitive spirit of the ‘Palio’ horse races held in the wonderful Piazza del Campo in July and August has ensured that young Siennese stay on in their beautiful city. Tickets and prices available from the Kirker Concierge. We can include a hire car if you wish to visit the vineyards of Chianti, the towers of San Gimignano and Pisa and the walled city of Lucca.

The palazzo was built in 1600 by Pope Alexander Vll as a wedding gift to nobleman Giulio de’ Gori and is the grandest palace to be found in the historical centre of Siena, situated a few steps from the famous Piazza del Campo and the cathedral.
A Renaissance Palazzo located in a quiet square only five minutes’ walk from the cathedral. Transformed into a pensione in the 1920s, it has remained in the same family ever since.
