This spectacular drive along South Africa's south western coastline stretches from Heidelberg in the west for 200 miles towards Storms River in the east and is one of the most beautiful in the world. Countless spectacular beaches, nature reserves, indigenous forests and peaceful lagoons are flanked by the calm waters of the Indian Ocean and the majestic Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountain ranges.

The drive from Cape Town to the heart of The Garden Route is approximately five hours’ drive; however, we can fly you to George if you prefer, which is just one hour from Knysna.

This privately-owned country house is located seven miles west of Plettenberg Bay and is set in wonderful gardens surrounded by indigenous forests, framed by the mountains of Tsitsikamma. The original house has been beautifully restored and is filled with antiques and period furniture, as are the 23 thatched cottages which make up the guest accommodation.

The Lodge is located on a bluff looking out towards the Spioenkop Hill, the site of one of the most closely fought battles of the Anglo-Boer War. The staff make sure that their guests are made to feel very welcome and there is a homely atmosphere that has encouraged many to return.
