Christmas in Dresden

Dresden 5 nights Prices on request

Since the re-unication of Germany, Dresden has been completely and sensitively restored and has regained its position as one of Europe‚Äôs greatest cultural centres, a glorious city full of architectural, artistic and musical treasures.

Dominated by the Frauenkirche, which had lain in ruins since the end of World War II until it was re-consecrated in 2005, the historic quarter of Dresden is explored on foot. Highlights include the Zwinger Gallery with its superb collection of Old Masters, the New Green Vault and the Historic Green Vault, both brimming with treasures from the magnificent decorative art collections of the Saxon Kings and Electors of Saxony. Dresden sits on the banks of the River Elbe with the historic centre on one side of the river looking out to the Neustadt on the far side with its wonderful Art Nouveau buildings. We stay at the Hotel Steigenberger de Saxe, superbly located in the heart of historic Dresden overlooking the Frauenkirche and Neumarkt. Behind the traditional fa√ßade, the hotel has well-appointed modern bedrooms and a restaurant and bar.
