Hacienda De San Rafael

Andalucia 3 nights low season from £836 per person
Deluxe Country House Hotel

Set among sunflower and cotton fields, located in the heart of the country some 25 miles from Jerez and Seville, this is without doubt one of our favourite hotels in Spain. Our good friends – the Reid family – have converted their elegant, very Spanish former farmhouse into a small, luxurious hotel.

The 11 bedrooms are very well furnished and are set around a flower-filled courtyard (most are split level, all have Colonial-style ceiling fans). There is a beautiful sitting room, a dining room (the quality of the cooking is exceptional) an air-conditioned library with TV, gardens, and an open-air swimming pool with sun terraces. Three Casitas have been built in the Hacienda’s grounds. Each is air-conditioned and has a bedroom, a separate living room, a bathroom with separate shower and a private garden. There is an additional swimming pool which is for the exclusive use of those staying in the Casitas. Supplement: £90 per person per night. The Hacienda is ideal for exploring southern Andalucia: Ronda (with its famous gorge); the pueblos blancos (white villages); Seville, Jerez and Cadiz. A trip to the extraordinarily beautiful Coto Doñana – the largest national park in Europe, and home to a wide variety of wildlife – can be arranged. You could also combine a stay here with a few days in Seville or another of our Andalucian country properties. Hotel opens 15 March.

3 night low season price from £836 per person, 3 night high season price from £879 per person

We arrived into Malaga Airport early in the morning and collected our hire car for our journey through the white villages of Andalucia. Driving through the mountains we witnessed first-hand why Andalucia is the agricultural capital of Spain. We meandered past the olive groves and citrus trees, often seeing the modest farmhouses and beautiful white hilltop towns. I loved catching glimpses of pink…

Andalucia

Day 1 - After a late morning flight to Madrid, we picked up our hire car and skirted the city on the wide ring road, before turning south – heading away from the plateau of central Spain, for the promised warmth and sunshine of Andalucia.  Driving on the motorway we travelled through expansive agricultural land, before rapidly climbing into the mountains on the border with Andalucia.…
