L’Art de Vivre is a charming, traditional barge, which has a particularly fascinating history. Originally built in England during World War One, she served as a supply vessel for Allied troops on the Somme. In retirement, she has enjoyed a more tranquil lifestyle on one of France’s longest-established canals, the Canal du Nivernais.
There are four comfortable, compact cabins with en suite facilities and the delightful saloon combines leather, wood and brass features to create a warm and inviting ambience. Outside, there is a sun deck to relax on with a glass of wine as you glide through the Burgundy countryside and a spa pool to soak in. You can explore the towpath on foot or on one of the barge’s bicycles, before rejoining L’Art de Vivre at the next lock.
Our expert reservations team regularly travel to a wide range of destinations to explore new cities, visit hotels and to research museums, galleries and restaurants so that we can offer the most up-to-date advice and recommendations.
