Le Pigonnet

Provence 3 nights low season from £674 per person

A delightful family-owned hotel, Le Pigonnet is an 18th century Provençale country house, surrounded by tranquil gardens yet just 10 minutes from the Cours Mirabeau in the centre of the city using the hotel’s complimentary shuttle bus.

The gardens, with their cypress trees, umbrella pines, fountains and flower-filled borders are beautiful and were an inspiration to Paul Cezanne who sat in a corner and painted his famous work, ‘Montagne Sainte-Victoire’ in 1890. The gastronomic restaurant, ‘La table du Pigonnet’ has an excellent reputation locally; in summer meals can be taken on the terrace. There is a charming lounge with an open fire, a champagne bar and 48 bedrooms decorated in a typical Provençal style. The heated outdoor swimming pool is open from May to October and there is a wellness centre with sauna and hammam.

3 night low season price from £674 per person, 3 night high season price from £938 per person

Countryside & Culture in Provence

By Ben Williams, 18 November 2016

Sweeping past lavender fields, the windows open, the wind in our hair, Provence very much lived up to its reputation as the most beautiful area of France. The hotel Le Pigonnet is a wonderful place to stay - their staff were just about the best we’ve ever encountered and it’s such a pretty place.  Helped by gorgeous weather, they opened their excellent pool early.
