Dating back to the 1930s when the hotel was built by the Marquis of Bute, the Rock is as much of an institution today as it was then and with its renovation in 2014, it has retained its stylish colonial interior, timeless decoration and relaxed Mediterranean feel. The 104 bedrooms all have views of the Spanish mainland and of the straits of Gibraltar with the mountains of Morocco on the horizon visible on a clear day. The restaurant, with its wisteria adorned summer terrace, serves Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine and the light and spacious lobby lounge bar and terrace is open for drinks, light meals and afternoon tea in the most elegant of surroundings. The hotel’s large outdoor summer swimming pool is located below the hotel in its own secluded garden and has a pool bar and restaurant for lunches and snacks. There is a hair and beauty salon offering massages and beauty treatments.
