Known for serving the first cup of coffee in Porto at the beginning of the 20th century, ‘A Brasileira Café’ has not just been carefully restored but has become the focal point of this new hotel, opened in 2018, inside a heritage mansion. The theme of coffee, as well as spice, tea and chocolate, all imported from the Portuguese maritime heyday in the 15th and 16th centuries, form the cornerstone of the hotel’s style and provide themes for the 89 classically furnished rooms, some offering wonderful views over the surrounding historic buildings. The restaurant is inspired by traditional Portuguese cuisine with a contemporary twist. Close to the central Ribeira district, the hotel is well placed to explore the city. There is also a bar and a fitness centre.
