Built in 1908 as a private villa for an English colonel, The Asbhee is named after its English architect who introduced the Arts and Crafts fashions of the age to the local Sicilian architecture.
Now a very comfortable hotel; modern touches have been introduced to the 25 rooms and suites, some of which enjoy the views of the Straits of Messina towards Calabria on the mainland. Guests can relax in the large outdoor swimming pool and panoramic terrace or enjoy the shade of the many citrus trees in the Sicilian garden. Many of the fresh, Sicilian ingredients used at the ‘St. George Restaurant’ are grown on site. The rooftop bar is an ideal spot for sunset. Only a few steps from Porta Messina and the top of the Mazzaro cable car, this is a great base for exploring Taormina.
