Originally a 12th Century monastery built to shelter passing pilgrims, the Hostal de San Marcos was reconstructed at the start of the 16th Century, becoming one of Spain’s most staggering Renaissance buildings. It has a breathtaking façade and astonishing public areas and is a museum in its own right. Following a very substantial renovation project, the hotel reopened in December 2020 with just 51 spacious rooms, all located in the historic palace building. Original features include an atmospheric chapter house and a magnificent cloister depicting many religious events. Guests can enjoy local specialities in the hotel’s restaurant while light snacks are served in the bar. The hotel’s garden and library offer peaceful settings in which to relax.
